Results of the Youth Ministry Jam Jar Survey
The red, white and blue chips have been counted and the scores tallied, and the results are that everybody wants to have fun. During the Parish Picnic on Pentecost, the middle and high school age members of our parish family and their parents voted for their favorite Youth Ministry activities for the upcoming year. All 37 of the participants dropped chips, numbered 1-5 into activity-labeled jars with #1 being their first choice and #5 being their fifth choice. From the chart below it appears the Youth Ministry Core team will be planning pizza and movie nights, gym-nights and outdoor game activities for both the Middle-schoolers and the teens. The teens also want social events such as dances, karaoke nights, bowling outings, bonfires, and hayrides, while the middle-schoolers want to participate in Saturday service projects, board game nights and lock-ins. Parents want youth ministry sponsored fun opportunities for their middle-schoolers and teens as well.
The more serious activities were of lesser interest to all who voted. We hope that as the Youth Ministry program grows, and our middle-schoolers and teens become more engaged with the Youth Ministry, that we can spark their interest to go deeper into their faith, and express more interest in teen talks, Bible study, retreats, conferences, and such. For this, we will work and pray.
Kevin Deford was the lucky winner of our drawing for a Regal Movie Pack (2 movie tickets and a $10 gift certificate for snacks.) Congratulations to Kevin, and a big thank you to the 13 middle-schoolers, 12 teens and 12 parents who participated in our survey.
